What to see
The Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993, stands on the ocean's edge and has one of the tallest minarets in the world. It is one of the few mosques in Morocco that non-Muslims can visit, on guided tours outside prayer times.
The city centre around Mohammed V Square is lined with Art Deco and Mauresque buildings from the French protectorate. The small old medina sits beside the port, and the Corniche at Ain Diab is the place for a seaside walk.
Getting around
Casablanca has a modern tram network, and trains connect Mohammed V Airport with Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port in under an hour. Casa-Voyageurs is the main station for trains to Marrakech and for the Al Boraq high-speed trains to Rabat and Tangier. See the Morocco train map.
